I am busy building some large (120litre) bass reflex boxes for Tannoy 12"HPD drivers. I have the drivers in 46L Devon enclosures for now which are very nice but for a while I have been wondering what these could do with a bit more volume.

Have been doing all kinds of reading on what to use to damp the cabinet walls to lessen box colourations, bracing methods etc, but also about what to use to absorb internal reflections. SO... what are the locally available materials of choice for this purpose? I have used regular 1" high density open cell foam in the past but pretty sure this is not the most effective. Is it worth spending more for specialist "acoustic" foams here or will regular foam or felt do the job?

Particularly looking at something effective to use on the back wall behind the driver to keep reflections from passing through the cone and the rather large port which is close to the driver.

Heres a shot of the work so far:
