Thanks Guys, I'm well chuffed!

@Eric
I don't have the guts to even take it off the normal roads, so the off road goodies will have to wait a LOOOOONG! time. I got it primarily for our trips to Mozamique and it had enough space for everything with reasonable comfort. It is a petrol, I've just heard about too many problems in general with Diesel, so I didn't want to take a chance. Also, there is a certain amount of comfort knowing that you not driving a Tractor  ;D ;D I will pay at the pumps though, this thing is HEEEEAAAAVY on juice!

@Alex
I still have the old 'maroon saloon', I've grown rather attached to it so I dunno if I will ever get rid of it  ;D To be honest, I haven't touched it in two weeks though...

I can't really make up my mind about the new Toyotas... I have three different yotas, all petrol... oldest is a 4x2 SWB Hilux with some 363,000KM, second one is a '87 Hilux DC 4x4 with 303,000Km, and the last one I bought new in 1999, Hilux DC 4x4 2.7i, which only has some 43,000Km on.

The two 4x4s have raised suspension (OME) and perform admirably. I have just fitted a new engine in the '87 model, as the original one, while still running, was now a bit long in the tooth.

I thought of trading the '99 Hilux in for a Fortuner, but am still very undecided. I quite like the new Korean models too, Kia & Hyundia, esp. with a 10-year 100,000Km warranty!

All my vehicles have good sound system, to keep this on topic! Alpine in two of them, JVC in the other!

Obviously I'm a little biased, but after deliberating for a LOOONG time I decided on the Fortuner. I'm not too keen on the Korean stuff, to be honest. I like the Toyota for it's bulletproof reliability, so the 3 year /100 000km warranty doesn't worry me too much! I do like the 5 year / 90 000km motor plan that comes with it as well.

Gert, have you got any idea what kind of HiFi equipment you could have bought for that kinda money???

Though I'm not a Toyota fan at all, that looks like a very nice ride.  ;D

Hope you have lots of joy with it  ;).

Hehe, I agree on the potential lack of hifi stuff, but then I also need to get out and get a little sun on this milk-bottle complexion of mine  ;D ;D ;D

Skinny, now that you mention it, I do have a couple of 18's kicking around  :D :D

Petrol is heaaavy, agreed, but a diesel needs to be driven like, well a diesel... otherwise you let the magical smoke out... I spoke at length with Diesel mechanic about it, and he sez drive them nicely and they're brilliant, abuse them and it'll cost you plenty... But then again I suspect that is the turbo part rather than the Diesel part... i.e. Don't buy secondhand...

But yes, you could have gotten a Lada and some cool Hi-fi stuff, you know!!!

Congratz!
OK! I've had it! I don't give anymore Kharma. Kharma should work in mysterious ways...

Cheers, thanks!  ;D

My mom got herself an X-Trail 18 months ago. It's on it's 4th Turbo. Nissan has gone so far as to drop the boost pressure to make the thing last. They deny flatly that there's a design fault, but they cannot explain why it breaks so often. I've also heard rumours about other people with these problems on that car. I'll never buy a Nissan... ::) ::)  >:( >:(

I can feel my face going all funny...

Hey, that is all part of the Nissan slogan "Life's a journey, let's take you for a ride!"  ;D

I find it strange in todays' competitive markets that companies get away with sh*t like this. If there is a definate problem on cars from certain other manufacturers, they recall the affected vehicles. Like I have said before, I've heard of other similar problems, so my mom's case is not unique. A little warning for other budding 4x4 owners, I think?
