Our custom-made Ophelia music servers
« on: April 29, 2016, 03:39:00 PM »
Here is our latest Ophelia prototype music server/transport. Currently in test and sounding stunning.

Our external linear PSU:

A client's server we recently built (open lid view)...

Our CPU being cooled the silent way (no fan anywhere in sight!)

One of the main criteria which makes our Ophelia music servers really special is the fact that our operating system runs on a Linux-based system which utilises as little as 2G for the OS (Operating System) which is just a fraction of your typical Windows platform which can take as much as 32G for the OS which includes background services and software, wasting an enormous amount of resources.

With our unique approach this translates to EXCELLENT low latency, greatly reduced hardware stress and pretty much no processing power of the CPU is wasted. This allows our servers to offer a purer audio playback experience for our clients.

Our hardware is excellent and meticulously chosen for audio application with overkill specs and performance, we tweak it with our magic touch because everything PC-based affects the way music is presented regardless of 1ís and 0ís contrary to popular belief.

Important features:

Plays all PCM and DSD (.dsf) files
Regular updates
Optional SPDIF output.
Both options are fan-less (noise-free).
Runs on Android Tablets/phones and iPads/iPhones.

Customised libraries browsable by:

ALL PCM files (16, 24bit files)
16BIT PCM files only
24BIT PCM files only
1Bit DSD [.dsf] files only
Artists
Genre
Albums

This means that the client can organise their libraries according to the resolution of their music files, and enjoy a session with whichever file format they prefer to use depending on the mood.

We're selling this server/transport to clients who are well over their 60's and 70's and they are finding it an absolute joy to use and totally trouble-free. We prefer to offer the non-auto-rip option because simplicity always translates to better reliability. We will build our servers with auto-rip feature if the client absolutely must have it.

Not having the auto-rip feature also means, cheaper chassis, less parts and ultimately savings.

We have received feedback from clients stating that our servers absolutely blows away some pretty expensive CD transports and CD players used as transports, feedback such as CLEANER , more MUSICAL, more ANALOG, EFFORTLESS, FAR MORE TRANSPARENT and DYNAMIC!

You may email or Private Message me for options and prices.

PS: Will be posting more pics and screenshots of the Android library thumbnail views soon...
BTW, this post is still in progress...

outputs?
Audiophile: There is almost no other group that prides themselves more on wasting good money on utterly worthless ****, and then trying to furiously blow smoke up their own ass to justify it.

Free your mind...and your ass will follow.

outputs?

For now, options of USB and SPDIF only. AES/EBU (soon).
No analog outputs as this is only a transport-based server.
Also bear in mind that USB will be the preferred output since DSD is now "as far as I know" only playable via USB inputs on most DSD-based DACs.

Hi Ramsey.

That looks amazing. I would like to know a lot more and see this server perform. How do we do that?

Hi Eben, for now, only Willem who would be the nearest guy to you has one but running Windows instead of the newest one running Linux, the other option would be to come this side in Cape Town whenever you might visit?

Coming to you is another option but much more costly for both of us!  :-\

I am sure I can arrange an audition with Willem. Thanks.

Welcome Ramsay. I researched digital music for 2 years before I  bought your server. It is fantastic. It is NOT the same as my laptop.

Thanks nvw, glad you are enjoying it! Please tell us what CD transport you were using before our Ophelia server?

Do you perhaps sell the SOtM card and HDPLEX linear separate?

Here's our next phase Ophelia music server prototype showing only our built-in linear power-supply section which we are very exited about!
This will be a cost-effective integrated solution, no more external power supplies although should the client want it externally, we will continue to offer that option too.
