Generic X-overs to raid for inductors
« on: April 25, 2016, 11:15:10 PM »
I have a whole lot of generic passive x-overs (7 types.) Makes no sense that I should have these, because I'm into active x-overs.

The inductors I measured were within 10% of like values but YMMV.

PLEASE NOTE: These have been in storage for more than 15 years. So the caps leak (in the electric sense) like there's no tomorrow. If you re-form them they may recover and they may be reliable. Even so I'd suggest just using the inductors and chucking the rest.

If you must do the bi-polar electrolytic thing to keep the price down, Communica has brand new bi-polar caps in these values for between ~R1 and ~R9 each. All in radial packages.

I can send these to you via the Courier Guy (R100) or we can figure out collection/delivery in Pretoria.

Details to follow.

SH616 3-way 1st and 2nd order

Iron dust core in one of the coils

Schematic

Bobbins are glued to the circuit board with epoxy. Fortunately this sticks to the board better than it does to the bobbins, and the bobbins are quite tough. If you remove the solder from the terminations first the coil can be pulled off without damage. The core may be removable without damage, but it depends on where the glue went.

1 x 420uH 0.75 Ohm
1 x 600uH 0.9 Ohm
1 x 1.6mH 0.9 Ohm (Iron dust core)
158g

16 Available

R75 each

3-Way 2nd order

Schematic

Two of the coils have the same iron dust cores as in SH616 above.

Bobbins are glued to the circuit board with a thinner epoxy than was used in SH616 above, so the cores can also be removed, resulting in 800uH in stead of 1800uH. The cores could be fitted to the 345uH air core coils to increase their inductance to 900uH.

2 x 1.8mH 0.78 Ohm (Iron dust core)
2 x 345uH 0.48 Ohm
338g

32 Available

R100 each

EST-1004 (removable laminated core)

Schematic

The laminations can be removed easily. Then you have a 725uH air core inductor.

1 x 6mH 0.55 Ohm (laminated core)
264g

10 Available

R120 each

I keep the scrapyards busy enough. It's my car they lust after ;D

PM replied to, ALF.

The SH604 x-overs (top of the list) are all spoken for. I'll try to update the pics to indicate that later tonight.
