Can we please fix the "you've been banned" error?
« on: March 15, 2016, 04:45:01 PM »
Hi mods ... this has been an issue for a couple of years. It is real.

When I'm travelling overseas, depending on network and device, I frequently get the "you've been banned, this is not set to expire".

Made me miss some cheap AM Bronzes I've been waiting for all my life.  :angrywife:

Assuming some kind of over-sensitive IP range blocking... I know a bunch of others have had same problem.

You need to PM the IP addresses you were using, then we can have a look at it.

Stay out of Ukraine!  ;)

It's a bug, not a feature, as they say.

If it was a security mechanism, why would it say "d0dja you've been banned from using this forum. This ban is not set to expire!".

Note username. Banned. Not blocked because you're somewhere weird.

On my phone I'm still "banned" (this is a first... normally it sorts itself out). IP 41.13.4.169. It worked sometimes while overseas, but also got banned message when I was on  51.254.166.1 and 202.155.216.78.

Wiped browsing history, and can now get in.

So a mixture of cookie and IP going haywire. Poss.

Clearing the browser cache seems to solve the problem in most cases.
