Im interested in the IDA8 or IDA16. I like the idea that its a all in one system. I can either go and get a decent used pre and power amp for the price of an IDA16.

My question how much better is the IDA16 than the IDA8. Im thinking of doing away with my audio lab CD player, freeing space and just have one unit running my esoterics playing from my Macbook.

I have not listened to Class D amps before. Currently I am using my brothers Cambridge 851a that I am very impressed with. It sounds great for what it is.
The IDA-16 is a better amp and I prefer listening to that as my 'reference' system.  The IDA-8 is better value for money (in a sense) but if I had to make a choice, it is the IDA-16.  I have both.
It also depends on your speaker choice.  On larger speakers the IDA-8 may not be the best choice.

As soon as I am back in the country I will setup a few listening sessions between the 3 main NuPrime units I have.  Entry fee could be a nice red aged grape ;)

.....both IDA 8 and IDA16 are going very well with Tannoy btw.. :)    I prefer the IDA16 - its an adult amp..very adult and even some say the bargain of their Line is the IDA 8..thats not wrong but once you listen to the IDA16..yes...its far more...but you also get far more. Its an amazing amp...

How well does the STA-10 sound with the Tannoy's?

As per the NuPrime matrix table the MCH-K38 sounds closer/similar to the STA-10, hence the interest in that combo.

...Hi Spurge..... which Tannoys?

I just play around with the XT6F and DAC 9 and STA 9...amazing combo.... XT 8F ..I have to try...
The STA 10 is a big step ahead of STA 9...more control , larger soundstage, finer details.... to make it short ...the better amp without any doubt.

Bigger Tannoys I must try.... I can imagine IDA16 will work very well.... but on my Turnberry f.e. so far I have no experiences with NuPrimes

Resurrecting this thread..

Any more impressions of the MCH-K38 worth sharing? (Excepting of course any incidents necessitating a refund  :whistler: )

.....no only one refund so far. But yes the MCH 38K was a difficult birth (sometimes it is like that). Joel just now is busy to upgrade the last units which need to be shipped out and than I believe this Early Bird was maybe the bargain of 2016 (for those who could wait and understood the Early Bird concept as it was meant to be).
I m sure in a couple of days we ll read some very good reviews about a very affordable and powerful Multiichannel amp....

NuPrime MCH-K38 (received 2 weeks back, connected this week)

As they say in some fast food retaurants >>> "the quality is remembered long after the wait is forgotten"

Early days. But drawn in to listen and re-listen. Using for stereo music only at this early stage. Pleasantly surprised by the good sound. Instrument timbre accurate. Uncanny quiet back-ground comparable to Devialet.

Immediate thoughts are:
Sound quality >>>
1) It is indeed a poor-man's Devialet. The sound def leans that direction.
2) It is not a Mark Levinson 33H. Not a ML335.
3) It is better than the Proceed AMP5 that for years was a Sound Journal reference THX multi-channel amp in the early 2000's.
4) Much, much better than the Rotel 1075 & 1095 multi-channel amps.
5) Similar but with with a different sound to the Audiolab monoblocks that sold out at R11,000 a channel.

The price tag of around R50,000 (NEW)(or R6000 per channel) for 8 x 200W channels of this sound quality, is a true bargain in my eyes.

Versatility >>>
1) You have switches to set each channel input to XLR or RCA as u please.
2) Switches enabling u to bridge all or some channels.
3) It enables you to drive a 5.1.2 Atmos system (so 8 - 5=3 channels open) where the Atmos speakers may be driven by the decoding AVR, and then have a dedicated specialist music stereo pre-amp that feeds into 2 of the remaining 3 NuPrime channels to drive your specialist stereo music system. Then u could have a BD player feeding the AVR and a dedicated specialist reference transport with DAC feeding the music pre into the NuPrime. GREAT !!

Value >>>
1) This amp has no equal in this department at this price of R6,000 per channel.
2) Considering the early bird special price - even better. (Maybe I can get the one where the money was refunded)

Current end conclusion >>>
1) I bought 3. Should have bought 4.

Will do some more listening and report back.

Equipment used at the moment >>>
Oppo 95 into XLR Shunyata Research Zita Anaconda XLR into NuPrime MCH-K38 (not bridged) into Monster M1.2s speaker cable into Vivid K1's. All power cables Furutech.

I am exited having a MCH-K38 in a box waiting for me to get back to SA.  I own so many NuPrime products but really is that good.

Happy to say I am now the owner of 2 Nuprime products. Got the MCH-K38 multi-channel power amp (that was originally bought of this forum) and an HD-AVP (that was originally bought from Joel) that came with it.

Connected only the power amp last night and am really impressed. Using it in 3x400W + 2x210W configuration. Soundstage is awesome, there’s lots of detail but somehow not harsh sounding and bass is nimble but powerful. What I find weird is that my speakers got an internal powered subwoofer with bass below 80Hz send its way, but the bass still sounds faster and more detailed than before. I guess bass does not stop at 80Hz.

Will connect the processor this weekend (just to test) and am looking forward to hear what the USB Audio DAC in the processor will sound like. Will probably sell it later and keep XMC1 (more versatile), but must give it a listen first.
As long as I can still enjoy the music I'm happy.
