I thought I would share this with all the guys here. I know Shonver has similar cooling issues with regard to his DSTV PVR like mine, so I put together a simple DIY solution:
Components required:
1. 120mm ball-bearing fan - computer fan will do cost -R25
2. some wire - flex or other - ?
3. some terminals - R10-R20
4. 12V Battery 7AH - Alarm battery - cost about R120 a few years ago, but any rechargeable battery will do.
5. Switch - any electronic - can even be a toggle.
6. Soldering Iron and solder
Assembly:
1. Cut a piece of wire (flex) and solder battery terminals onto both ends of the wire.
2. Then use one end as the (+)ve terminal and solder the switch in-between the +ve wire leading to the +ve (red) wire of the fan and switch.
3. Use the terminal wire thats left as the (-)ve wire and solder this to the -ve (black) wire of the fan.
Assembly completed:
Connected and installed:
;D
PS: Further enhancements to follow.
