We went to a 're-opening' for the Alhambra Theatre last night in support of efforts to save the building and to provide arts education for schools. Aside from the performance by the City Kids School (which was excellent) there was a lot of talking, ranging from mildly interesting to about 9.85 on the Pointless & Lethally Boring Scale.

We debated leaving early, but I'm so glad we stayed, at the end Sibongile Khumalo sang 2 songs. Despite the poor sound engineering and half-dead crowd, she was amazing. The presence to take charge of an audience and the ability to convey such feeling and emotion using just her voice is something I don't think you can be taught. A true artist.
