Apparently, Johnny Cleg has terminal Cancer. I was with one of his promoters this weekend and she said he has Prostate Cancer and has maybe 18 months to live. His current concert is a farewell
to his fans.

Very clever guy. Years ago - many years ago, I went to a musicology seminar at university and [I don't remember what the topic was but] what he spoke about was fascinating....music sound, structure, meaning, in a social psychology context, I suppose.

Well we will all go in some way or the other, Cancer, Heart, Alzheimer's - what's important is not dying, but how he lived and lives a fulfilled life, better and more fulfilling than most.
I don't mind getting to the finish line, it's what I experience between the starting blocks and the tape that matters

We went to his concert at Monte Casino and it was fantastic. Very emotional experience. I knew it was a farewell concert but had no idea it was because he is ill. Very sad.

If you've spent any length of time in this strange land at the bottom of Africa, do yourself a favour and go see him. Any doubt about having feelings for this country were just wiped out. Perhaps the best concert I've ever been to. We had the worst seats in the house, very back row and it was still spine-chilling. The man is a legend.

Edit* The opening act Taylor is just sensational as well. I know very little about her but she is special. She only did 3 songs.
