The Flames the best SA band of all time

The Manhattans " Vuka"

Ray Phiri Paul Simon really should think about what the Graceland album would have sounded like without Ray's talents.

Dolly Radebe songstress of note

Tananas "Sipral" still my favourite driving album the bass just drives my foot into the accelerator

The Diamonds Dogs enjoyed live

Mango Groove still like Hometalk it has not aged
~ music is imagination given instrumentation ~

Chris, believe it or not I have two recordings of theirs...Nik Slade & the Diamond Dogs and a Radio 5 session I recorded circa 95/96.  You're welcome to a copy of the radio broadcast and I may still be able to source another copy of the CD.  Ping me if keen.
I like beautiful melodies telling me terrible things -- Tom Waits

For me Clout was good and Hotline made a couple of great songs. PJ Powers were the lead singer.

The tall guy with the glasses- Werner Spies - watching him play a double bass is spell-binding. His hands looks like daddy long legs spiders running up and down the instrument's neck.

Artists of a different kind... My 15 year old aspiring DJ is taking a slot at the Sacred Heart music festival with some of the bigger names. 24 Sep 2015.  He calls himself Theria and it is nice to see what passion your child has and goes for it.

great music, I have "seed"... love it. If you can track down a copy of Newman/Cox "About Time", you will like it.

You can m ost prob find Tony Cox on Facebook
Sometime last year he posted 'help me sell 1000 CDs' and I bought 3 different ones, he signed them. I have AUDIENT, THE SUMMER COMES MY LOVES, RETURN OF THE ROAD WARRIORS (with Steve Newman, most listenable). They were also in The Aquarian Quartet with Greg Georgiades and the late Syd Kitchen
Worth also looking for them on BOEREQANGA with Nico Carstens

If you're into Alt Rock have a look at this album.

Fetish - So Many Prophets. South African and excellent.

Recommended for fans of A Perfect Circle, Ashes Divide, and of course fans of the SA Rock sound.

Link to their Bandcamp -http://fetish.bandcamp.com (haven't listened yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if their other albums are good too).
Plate, vakuum buis versterkers en breŽband oorvormers.

Two bands that come to mind recently:

BLK JKS - signed to an overseas label (Secretly Canadian) as they wouldn't get anywhere on the SABC.  Played as back up for Alicia Keys at the 2010 World Cup opening concert, had their set cut by the TV people in favour of some pointless junket even though they were the only new young SA band there.  Here's a link to their world cup anthem:

It's not too similar to their usual stuff so here's a nice mellow one from the After Robots album (Tselane):

Wildernessking - very melodic, slightly ambient blackened metal, along with Black Math probably my current favourite local band.  If you can still find a copy, their debut album (Mystical Future) is excellent, if not, it's here at band camp.
