Found a tutorial on how to make an aluminum case-all that's needed is a table saw, some spare wood, hinges and a dose of patience

Very nice. Bamboo has some very good structural properties. Makes me look at a Vee cutter in a new light too.

Jaaa... was thinking of tilting the saw blade at 45deg... but gauging depth might not be trivial

Awesome tutorial, I guess you could just as easily do those channel cuts with a router.
