Hi
I can get Nan!wa superbstone* 3000 grit for wholesale price if I get a few people together... we are almost there ca. R500 exc.vat. 210x50x20mm
3000grit is for minor touching up and polishing the edge.
http://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/Naniwa-Super-Stone-P290.aspxhttp://www.chefknivestogo.com/superstones.htmlThere is a 220 grit also available for removing much metal or making micro serrated edges, for those who want, should be cheaper.
There is also a 3 stone kit 400 1000 3000 in a plastic stone holder workplace, for ca.R2000 exc. vat
There is a kitchen sink stand, that you place the stone in over the kitchen sink to sharpen, very useful ca. R500 exc.vat
I can do fastway shipping to major centres for R55 and not major centres will be more or you pick up from depot...
As an aside there are cheaper stones available from Randburg hardware centre, which you may prefer.
http://www.hardwarecentre.co.za/web/ go to sharpening and wetstones... they currently have 4000 (R400-ish) 6000 (R800-ish) and 8000 (R900-ish) stones. I like the King stone 800 I have, and they are decent, the Nan!wa superbstone is better - but in an audiophile kinda way, better texture and feel and feedback... here feedback is a good thing... a touchy feely thing. I want to go better... They will probably be a bit harder and require less flattening than the king stone, but i think it won't be a major difference...
Sometime later when they have stock, I will get other grits from them too... and will order again. I want more grits...
* don't want to advertise too widely, just now we po dealers...
