The tenant at my friend's house in Box Road in Muizenberg moved out on Friday, the end of the month. Yesterday afternoon, I went with him to assist repairing the gate motor, intercom and alarm. As we arrived we saw the sliding gate had been taken off and lying against the wall. There were 3 strange adults and about 4 or 5 children in the house. None of them appeared to speak English, except to say the boss had said they could live there. There were unopened boxes on the lawn. No argument would persuade them to leave. So off to Muizenberg SAPS who came around to the house. The SAPS spoke to one of the women and did not get anywhere because of the language problem and told my friend that since there were children under 10 there, they could not summarily evict them. So he wrote out an affidavit at the police station and signed it.
