So if you were to suggest a valve amp to a person to build, let's say for a moment that complex music is a definite requirement - so ultra-simple circuits would probably struggle, - i may be wrong though... what circuit would it be? I remind myself of the article by Ampdog a loooooong time ago in some or other magazine  :popcorn:, comparing I think the Leak (or was it the mullard?), the Williamson and the Quad circuits. I think the quad circuit was preferred...

Why engineering principles? because they have the best chance of doing everything well, if not make magic on the voice of a treble the week before his voice breaks... That is my choice. I appreciate that they may then sound like a transistor amp, but who cares if it is fidelity we are after.
