I have noticed that some of the cables used for balanced line transmission have four conductors. At least one of the balanced line driver IC's has sense inputs. I know that in the field of instrumentation the voltage at the load is sometime sensed, so that the system compensates for any voltage drops between the source and the load. Is this also used in audio balanced lines?
