Hi guys. It's been a while since I was last here. For a while my priorities had shifted toward other interests and hobbies, but I'm back into building up my hifi system:p

Just an update from my side; I recently upgraded my NAD 3020e to a Marantz PM6005 driving my Monitor Audio BX2's. For now I'm using a blu ray player connected via optical as a source until I save up for a matching CD6005. I'm also using my PC as a source, but the sound quality isn't that great with the onboard soundcard so I'm looking into my DAC/Soundcard options.

So my question... Given that the PM6005 has a built in DAC, would it be advisable for me to get a decent sound card like the Asus Xonar Essence ST/X and hook it up directly to the amp via optical/coaxle for the amp to do the processing or should I rather invest in an external DAC linked to my PC via USB?
