This is something I've been wondering about for a while.  I'm hoping someone can tell me how to implement or that it's a terrible idea.  :giggle: I recently purchased a mid/entry level Onkyo AVR specifically because it has hdmi switching. I have a pc, xbox, ps3 and dstv as sources and my projector has 1 hmdi, so the upgrade was pretty much a necessity.

Loving the setup but I can't help but wonder if I can make use of my old AVR in any way, perhaps to supplement the power. It's a real beast (Sony STR-DA5300ES), but the hdmi board is busted and too expensive to fix. :headbanger:
Is there any way to combine the two, so I get the processing and switching of the Onkyo with the power of the Sony?
