Scan Speak Group buy
« on: June 07, 2014, 09:15:37 AM »
Hey all,

So I am interested in getting in a few drivers for myself. I am looking at the following:

ScanSpeak Revelator 12M/4631-G00
ScanSpeak Revelator 18W/8531G-00
ScanSpeak Illuminator D3004/602000

I know the exchange rate is  :cr@p:  at the moment, doesn't seem as if it will be getting any better either  :-\
Is anyone else interested in some drivers? If so we could possibly get some discount, make it worth while despite the exchange rate.  ;D

I saw when some Scan's went on sale recently there was A LOT of interest so this is your chance!

Cheers,
Psy

I need to bring some Scan Speak drivers in for some projects in the next couple of weeks. I specifically need the Scan Beryllium tweeter for the SDA Super Monitor and I know Jozua needs a pair as well. If any one else is interested, please post here. I think if we can have an idea by the end of the month what people need, then we can place the order with Scan.

It will be through Stu :)

Just a thread to see what sort of interest there is and in which drivers.

Been thinking about a speaker build. Would need the following but my commitment is going to depend on pricing at the end of it all.

Looking for

4 of 18W 8531G00
2 of 12M 4631G00
2 of R2604 832000

Not urgent for me and project may never get off the ground ......

Bump.

Thought there would be a bit more interest, especially considering how everyone was acting when a few Scan Speak drivers were put up for sale a few weeks ago.

I'm sure the issue is not with people wanting to buy Scans, but rather the question about what it would cost. In the past we were lucky enough to get the drivers crazy cheap from Xumbug and normally they flew. But when we import from Madisound, you're looking at 2x dollar price landed. For a set of 18W8531's that's a hefty R8-10k, which is beyond most people's budget for a set of mid/woofers...
It's only hifi people....

The drivers will be through Xumbug and not Madisound. Therefore the pricing will hopefully be a lot more reasonable than purchasing through Madisound :)

Is there any way we can make a kind of estimate of how much it would end up costing though? I'm salivating over some Scan sub woofers but an a bit worried about committing based on what it may cost....they are even more expensive than the 18Ws...

I think this thread is in the wrong place and think it should be moved to a more appropriate spot. Lets close this and i will start another thread under DIY  ;)
