Really wonder how some of these couriers make money, drivers must literally be paid with peanuts.

+1 on XOC / The Courier Guy

Safely brought two packages (incl. the 37kg Rotel RMB-1095 monster) safely across the country. Reliable and fast service at a fair price

I have wondered about this myself. I do know that logistics play a large roll. The Courier Guy (as well as Fast Way) are franchises and most of the time the drivers are actually the owners. I have spoken to a few of them and they don't earn to shabby... but of course... that is completely arbitrary. I can say, they don't earn a pittance. It is hard work and long hours.

Great to see the overwhelmingly positive experiences from everyone through a variety of couriers. Shows what a open, competitive market can do.

I recently had three Jamo A804's brought up from Cape Town to Johannesburg. I used Express Online Couriers. Very detailed online booking system. For a 21 kg package I paid R143,--. Pick-up was on Friday. I received regular updates on the progress of my delivery (even on Sunday), and delivery was made via the Courier Guy on Monday. Excellent service. Would certainly use them again.

Xpc couriers.

The biggest amateurs on this planet. Asked them to collect, a week later it was still there after numerous reminders.

Courierguy ftw or those fastway couriers i never had issues.

Again excellent service from XOC!

Monday 25 August
9h55   Made a booking. Payed from FNB to Nedbank (normal EFT, not express created)
11h00 Got an email stating that parcel will be collected same day
11h07 Requested (via online support ticket) to arrange when the parcel will be collected
12h25 XOC replied that they have done as requested
13h04 Parcel was collected

Tuesday 26 August
9h32 Parcel received

Sure, this was only between Jhb and Pta, and it was an envelope containing a CPU, but it was under 24 hours and cost R68.40 (similarly priced to SAPO's SpeedServices).

I wanted to ask a question and though this the best place (but please feel free to shout at me and ask me to create a separate thread in the general section :D )

For international shipments (import into SA) - I used EMS a lot in the past. I have not imported in a few years....is it still reliable? Generally much cheaper than couriers and was very quick (3-5 days).

Speed services is on strike.

They do not tell you this when you pay for their overnight service !!!

The JHB hub at ORTambo is a flood of hopeful recipients wasting their lives away trying to get parcels, some since of which had been dispatched on 25 August.

This is what happens when your couriers truck goes off the road in the Karoo (well anywhere in ZA I suppose): https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=697881600261396&set=vb.100001186886369&type=2&theater
