Stuck, this could be very useful.

Transformers - Peter Souris & Co, in JHB. Sorry, I do not have their details at home nor do I have a JHB telephone directory.

For solid wood I like Maple Street Timbers in Pomona - Kempton Park.
http://www.mstimbers.co.za/

Electronic bits and pieces  -
RSE Electronics in Rosettenville (Jhb), I go there every so often just because.
http://rse.apexmedia.co.za/

Mantech is real close to them.
http://www.mantech.co.za/

Transformers and coils/inductors
Peter Souris will actually make inductors to order for you. Not as technically savvy as I hoped but can work to instructions. No aircores though.

Bolts and Nuts.
I also want to know where I can get a proper skroefiewinkel.
It's only hifi people....

I've been there once or twice, but looked mostly like junk? Almost like the old AP used to be, just muuuuuch smaller. What have they got you can't get at Mantech?

I go to Turbo Fasteners in Jet Park. If there's something weird I want, they order for me. There's also a popular place in Randburg, but for the life of me I can't remember their name? NJM Industrial? Ian, you wanna jog my memory here?
Resistance is not futile; it is voltage divided by current (R=V/I)

At RSE its a lot faster to see what you want. Mantech is a bit of a mission to see, ask questions, send back, get another, etc. However, I think you're right that a lot of it is a bit....dodge.
But if you don't know what you want they can help and often have a decent product to offer you.

Thanks! Jet Park is perhaps do-able.

For fasteners in Pretoria, if these guys don't have it you will have to head south and cross the Jukskei.

Unfortunately not possible, but any of the Mods can do so on your behalf. Would be useful in keeping the latest data in the original post.

Don't forget Mouser.  They ship for free to your door when the order goes over $200.  So I usually keep 'n basket open and add as I see I will need it.  Once the value exceeds $200 I pull the trigger.

Communica is not on Schoeman Street in Pretoria anymore.
They are on 53 Landmarks Ave, Centurion, but more towards Samrand.

Communica is not on Schoeman Street in Pretoria anymore.

They were still there a few weeks ago and their website still lists the address. They were in the city centre many moons ago before relocating to these premises. It is to the west of Church Square. The building used to be a BMW agency, but those sharks (full disclosure: bought three cars from them) moved to Hatfield.

This is cool. How about the same for Cape Town?
