You might come to regret that.

Meanwhile it may be wise to sort out this cat business, she'll be around here

My dear friend Ingvar,

So nice to see you are now here, I have been looking out for you after you said that you have applied for forum membership. I am sure you will have a great time with our little but very special forum! I look forward to maybe seeing you later in the year if all works out well for your anniversary and going to cape town for some of that good old SA wine we have talked about ;).
There are a lot of really good people around here and I am sure you will make a lot of good friends as I have over the years. The South African audio community is small in comparison to Europe or America, and has resulted is up being quite a closely nit family.

All the very best my friend :dop:

Welcome Ingvar, I'm sure your input to this forum could benefit many of us. I for one have also found happiness in the HE side of audio. The speakers I have at the moment are at 97 db/w, an Onken bass with CD tweeters . I'm currently working on the EL 84 amp for the tweeters and also as a future kit.

EL84 is a very good way to go, one of the best sounding tubes around, imo.
Erik Andersson, creator and designer behind Audio Inovations and Audion
is a long time friend and he designed the Edison12 some 25 years ago, I'm
at present putting a tribute to Erik and that amp together, kit only and on
a non commercial basis.
Just waiting for pricing on the replica output transformers from Transformatorteknik,
a good Swedish transformer manufacturer.

Onken bass units are fun, Always musical, what driver do You use?

Hey Ingvar

I have had a lifelong aversion to cats for no particular reason.

There are only dachshunds here and they share my err...feelings.

However, you may persuade me to revise my aversions...

Hi Ingvar,

After much searching and researching, due to limited availability her, and also budget, I chose the Fane 15-400, and actually its turned out very, very good. I am very impressed. Onken box size is about 260l.

Well Fane has, since the 70:s been extreme value for the Money, seems like a very good idea.

No own experience of that hf unit but iīve heard the 1430 in a good tractrix horn and that was
very nice, xo at 3k thou.

I tend to agree, it's just that cats have, for my entire Life, found me an adequate
supplier of food and shelter from the storm, they choose me as a bearded clumsy pet.

This last one thou became something special, only interested in analog sources so she
managed to bend the needle backwards on most cartridges she inspected.

Didn't like the high five routine she wanted to do whenever she had broken yet

Welcome Ingvar!  I like your enthusiasm on this thread. You sound to be a real go-getter. Keep the posts coming please :2thumbs:

Why is it that cats make the best companions when it comes to DIY audio, be it in the workshop building your next project or in the listening room enjoying and listening to one's creations? If it weren't for them, DIY audio would have been a very lonely hobby.

Then I cannot wait to start DIY...!
I have 4 X Cats, 6 Dogs and three kids... 8)

Every time I open a new set of speakers or amplifier, it takes just a few seconds for one or more cats to explore the inner sanctum of said boxes.
Love their keen interest just wished my kids shared my love of music.

That's the thing....the kids and the wife and even the dogs get bored with the continuous fiddle and tweak and late hours and soon loose interest but the cats and usually there is a specific one, persists, and is always there to keep us company.
