Stupid old man with a few good ideas.
« on: February 07, 2014, 11:20:06 PM »
So, didn´t find a Place for introducing Yourself so i´ll do it here, this is where i´ll hang around.
I´m not what You need, an old Swedish loudspeakermanufacturer, 95% of my production is
for professional use, restaurants, pubs, small to medium sized live stages etc, done the really large
venues too, but no, not in that League.

I also design, done for the last 40 years or so, speakers for domestic use, based on the same technology
and principles as the pro stuff. All these designs are free to to use for anyone anywhere in the DIY
comunity.

The reason i wandered here is a friend, a member of this forum who found one of my design on a Swedish forum,
we became friends, for real, strange but once in a while the person behind  the computer somewhere else just
steps into Your Life and becomes a real entity, a real, important, person.

So, Stu, I´m here now.

Hej Ingvar

Välkommen till AV Forums Sydafrika! Det är ett Hus för psykiskt störda människor med en besatthet för bra ljud! Här hänger du med dina egna kablar  :BWAHAHAH: :BWAHAHAH:

All in good jest  :O0:

You may ask what is my relation to Sverige? I happen to be an agent for one of the worlds best microphone manufacturers, based in Astorp, Skane.
En liten fabrik som gör Pearl mikrofoner.

Thank You!

The years spent as a speakerdesigner I've walked a very winding path, done some pretty lousy designs once
in a while, won't bother You with those.
I allways return to the high efficiency domain after forrays into more domestically normal systems.

Now, after a year spent in exploring small systems, sacrificing sensitivity but ended up with Three design that
works the way i want, one that i could actually live with, i´m home again and thought that i should share what
started as a friends request for efficiency and Dynamics and real Power in the lf but a small footprint.

First thou, You should be aware that i find these to be normal domestic size and my
wife since 25 years never protests against things like this:

Now that is a loudspeaker! ....size does matter. No replacement for displacement. And for me its not the sheer volume output that is the only thing that matters. It is the LF low octave coverage that is important for impact.

Yes, the moc seen above is a nice speaker, but what do we do to help out
friends who cannot, for various reasons, accommodate pieces like that?

The 21" does things You cant do with smaller drivers but say we want full
response well below the low B on the bass and only have the same floorspace
that two cats occupy to spare?

This is one possible way to go:

Welcome Ingvar.

It's all in the training. When I met my wife I had two 18s doing LF duty, some 15" Tannoys and some PA gear stacked around, so conventional domestic hifi speakers seems like HTIB to her I hope. Don't know whether I'll be able to keep that up for 25 years though.  :angrywife:

That's easy, bring flowers at least once a week, never forget Your anniversary and
never stop having fun together.

So, we just brunched on gratinated crayfish and a decent wine.

What do we put in the tiny boxes on the drawing above?
We start with my favourite 8":

We get a decent sensitivity, 101dB/2.83V or 98dB/1W, an F3 around 41Hz and, imo,
superb voicerendition and stupefying Dynamics
