Our street in Kenilworth has been invaded by trolley-pushing vagrants. Each passing day I see new mugs with eyes on stalks, checking what they can steal.
On the 16th January, my front gate was stripped of its brass (I made the gate and front fence back in '88 so I'm taking this a bit personally.
Yesterday the 23rd, cast iron leaf traps and their cemented-in bases were broken out from the paving. Last year, I already had to replace them when they were stolen and epoxied the covers.
On each of these two dates, it was our rubbish collection days so I know those responsible are bin scratchers.
Three weeks ago around the corner from me, two large pillar lights were ripped off.
Next Wednesday night, I'm going to have to stand guard outside to prevent the other leaftrap and the numbers on my front wall being stolen.
