Yes - $1300 = R 14300.  VAT on that is R2002 + R35 clearance comes to R 16337.  There will be some reduction as VAT is charged on FOB, so maybe R200 off...!

Jeepers the way the Rand is plummeting it may cost R20k by the end of next week.

Back on topic I may be interested in bringing in a cable or two if you're still keen to combine. If the order isn't too big I may actually be able to "slip" it in with one of my shipments out of Shenzhen or Hong Kong, got stuff leaving there all the time with plenty of local contacts that can arrange the logistics that side.

Well, that is a bit of a bummer.  What kind of commercial organisation has limits on their bandwidth?  This makes me suspicious.  Maybe it is better to look at the supplier http://www.china-hifi-audio.com/en instead

Many supposed suppliers just share office space in a partitioned flat in an office block.  Shenzhen is full of these.  On the tenant directory of one 34 floor building there were over 2000 tenants listed on an electronic display.  I commented to our host that was an efficient way to do it, but he said the tenants changed so often that was the only way they could keep up.   The other thing is that there are deliberate scammers, but you can usually spot these since they offer goods at a ridiculously low price.  But you never know.  PayPal will sort out that risk however

Maybe they're off for Chinese new year  ;D

Doesn't exactly make you feel confident about buying from them.

The website is working again, if awfully slow.  But they are not responding to emails.  I sent them two, on 27th and 28th Jan and have not had a reply.  I emailed support@shenzhenaudio.com and quoted my customer number
