Hi,

HELP!!!  :'(

I have always dreamt of owning a decent sound system ...  I don't know what planet I was on, but I thought a full system for R10k would be adequate, until I started researching ...

I have now budgeted +/- R25000 to acquire this. THIS being a reasonable AVR and a set 5.1 speakers with (hopefully) a pair of front floorstanding speakers.

After visiting a few shops and talking to many a salesperson I have come to the following conclusions
a) An AVR is either biased toward music audio or towards movir audio
b) Each sales person will push their brand - no matter what
c) Make the investment more in the speakers than the AVR

But, basically, for my budget I'm left with the following options :
AVR
1) Marantz SR5003 (the SR6003 might be too rich for my blood)
2) Yamaha RX-V863
3) Denon 2309
4) NAD T747 (again might be too expensive)

Speakers
1) Paradigm (combination of Monitor and 110 series)
2) Kef (awaiting feedback on my options there)
3) PSB (combination Alpha and Image series)

Ultimately, I'd like a system with a good compromise btw music and movie audio, but will support all the standard features when it come to video (have to keep my current TV until after the World Cup)

Please ANY advise. As I'm researching this I'm getting more confused ...

I'd like to purchase this before the rest of the family finds another channel for the money ...
