This was the club's 25th Vinyl Faire and since our usual venue is occupied today with cricket fixtures, we held todays in the Scout Hall in Plumstead

This got under way bang on 8.00am and the place was busy until 13.00

A new visitor today was Kevin Cook who runs "Hydro-Gro" which he describes as the easiest and healthiest way to grow.   You can see his creations be sending an email to hydroequalsgro@gmail.com or call 0826606662

I'll call in at the Oasis Charity shop some time.  I recall seeing one there this time last year, but wasn't tempted.   At high school I was asked to step in at Stuttafords in Cape Town one day when their gent got ill.  I stood it for about 5 hours but was getting so hot dressed in a furry outfit in summer I abandoned the post.   I think I got R20 for the day plus free lunch.  You could also get staff discount on LP records which in those days were R3.99

When I got home my mother said that some kid must have sat on my lap with a wet bum since the uniform did not smell that good

Some corrections for the BlueSound streaming session on Wednesday 5th February

The Jazz Ensemble is called the SEED Ensemble and there is an album of theirs already on Tidal in both CD and MQA

Amplifier - Bluesound Powernode 2i - https://www.bluesound.com/products-archive/powernode-2i/
Speakers - PSB Alpha T20 - alpha-t20-tower-speaker
Subwoofer - PSB Sub-Series SS250 - https://www.psbspeakers.com/product/subseries-250-subwoofer/

AV Imports as South African agents for NAD, Bluesound and PSB and represented by Francois van Rooyen, has invited the Club to be part of this international event.

Eskom was kind to us and waived load shedding for the full duration of the meeting

Francois van Rooyen (AV Imports) brought along a Bluesound streamer/class D amplifier, PSB tower speakers and a PSB sub and connected to live jazz concert delivered on line from London.  The sound and clarity was amazing

After, we listened to a variety of music, all delivered on line, from Tidal in CD quality mode, Deezer and Tidal MQA.  The difference was immediately apparent

Chrisc and all the guys and specially @BJ  Ben, last night was a full pack night, and the Maggies LRS really got my attention. I'm definitely going to get me a set when the opportunity rises. They sound really nice and love the fast strikes of it.

A large turnout of members and guests were enthralled by the amazing music off 180gm vinyl produced by the array of equipment Ben brought along to the meeting.

Many said it was the best sound heard in the house in Rondebosch.  As usual, two hours went by in a flash.  We want to sincerely thank Ben van der Merwe of Acoustic Arts in Somerset West (BJ here on the forum) for taking the time and trouble to bring a large array of excellent equipment, setting it up and presenting it

Our thanks again to our host, Andrew Hooper for opening up his home for the meeting
