@chrisc,

Just 2 questions,

 2 models being P3ESR and Monitor 40.2 ?
 The sound was the same before the wine and whisky and after ?

No sound before wine and whiskey - pre-show drinks.

Two different animals the speakers demo-ed last night. Both have strengths in their own right. The 30.2 bigger and 'beefier' but still clean and detailed with a great midrange and the P3ESR  clean, detailed, excellent mid range, good presence for its size. Less bass obviously

I'd say the sound became more fuzzy, after we went back for refills

You can see in the 3rd from the top pic that Spurge is hitting his head since he realised what it was he had been missing since coming to the shop.   Just goes to show, Vivids are not everything

Looks like a great evening all round!

I had a brief listen to the small Harbeths and they were simply sublime.
Beautifully made as well - real heirloom stuff.

If I were a speaker guy... :groovy:

Thanks for trying to ween me off my Vivid addiction.

I loved the small Harbeth's. What they offer sound & price wise at +/-R30k is great. They paired well with the 20W Cary amp.

Thanks to the Listening Room & Club committee for organising.

We're really getting experienced hosting these events now.  This is the 19th such VF and today's event was the best attended yet.  In summer in Cape Town, with the sun coming up at 5.30am, folks like to start early and by 8.30 it was like a Black Friday rush

Next one is Sunday 3rd February 2019

I too, was sucked in.

Popped in to have a quick look, left with 7 records. I only had half an hour!

Good variety.
