dont worry about feedback. ;D ..we will have Lance here in May for a shootout: SME30/Graham vs Revolve/Phantom.  Actually, no, its to proof how bloody good the Revolve is that we pitch it agains the best.

Live music event advance notice for June

Saturday 2nd June (not sure about time but probably 8.00pm) at the Baxter Theatre in Rosebank, Cape Town

The Cape Town Big Band Jazz Festival

THE LITTLE GIANTS, BERGVLIET HIGH SCHOOL  BIG BAND, HEATHFIELD HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BAND, BEAU SOLEIL MUSIC CENTRE, WYNBERG GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL BIG BAND, ALUMNI BIG BAND  (Led by Mike Campbell)

The club will organise discounted tickets for the event.  We also plan to visit a restaurant nearby before the concert and are making up our minds about a suitable place.  Currently it is Mike's Kitchen at 88 Camp Ground Road, but we will confirm it.  Partners are also most welcome and we promise not to talk shop the whole evening

Early in May we will send out a notification about this event

This will be in addition to our regular May meeting, which is currently being planned - watch this space

Another very successful meeting at the home of AudioTweak - Ramsey Raad in Capri Village, on the slopes of Elsies Peak in Fish Hoek.  The room was just full enough for us to swap about and listen via the "hot" seat, which is the way the system is organised

The equipment consisted of a SOtM SMS200 streamer,  ZOTL40-MK-II amplifier which is a transformerless (output transformer that is)(pic 9), UBIQ Audio Model 1 speakers (made in Slovenia).  The signal from the music server is fed via audiophile grade LAN cable to a LampizatOr Golden Gate DAC

The detail, sweetness, clarity and dynamic sound are outstanding

We noticed a gadget on the top of the speakers which turned out to be a Taket Batpro piezo super-tweeter (see last picture).  This unit has a variable attenuator and it was found that with the level set to the first position, the clarity of voice and attack of musical notes was immediately improved

Our thanks for our host, Ramsey for a most interesting afternoon, listening to a variety of music

Thanks Ramsey for the demo, lots of 'audio tweaks'

I agree with Chris, interesting to chat about each of our respective systems, and enjoyed listening to Mark Knopfer and Louis Armstrong and thank you for introducing us to the 'Juri Honing Trio', just got to get some of that!

Yes, that green tag goes to an "earthing box".  All the devices that need to be earthed go to this box.  I don't know if this in turn goes to the house earth spike

If you look at the bottom row of pictures in the post dated 14th April when I reported on the meeting, the middle picture shows a wooden box.  This is the earthing box.  We were not permitted to look inside, so for further details, you need to ask Ramsey

How can painting supercede listening to audio?  Something not right there

I see what you did there Chris!
