Secondly, it was nice meeting the guys on the forum face to face; although some was not too friendly.
Unfriendly faces?  That is disappointing to hear

You are most welcome to our next event, which is a Vinyl Faire to be held on Saturday 29th April from 10h00 in the large hall at the N G Kerk in Ophir Road in Plumstead.  You can have a free boerewors roll and cup of coffee or tea

Hi Guys,

I just saw this post now.

I am so sorry. What I actually meant was a lot of sad, maybe unhappy etc. faces; but definitely not unfriendly. I know most of you who were present at the presentation. I had a great time. I am sure most of us wanted to buy, but due to the prices of those fantastic pieces of electronic art, it was out reach for most of us, hence the sad faces. I am sure you know what I am trying to say. I just chose the wrong words to express my observation. I feel like a real d.........s. I really apologise if I offended anyone.  :-[ :-[

Chris, thank you so much for the invitation. I actually would like to officially join the club, if you guys will let me. Just send me the account details.

Kind regards.

Shamil

Unhappy!  Yes, more than likely from being unable to afford the equipment as you correctly point out  :sd:

We would love to have you as a member, please send an email to: capetownhificlub@gmail.com and I will add you to the mailing list and send you a copy of the last newsletter.  The account details are in there

Our Vinyl Faire - Saturday 29th April at the N G Kerk Hall in Plumstead, a very large hall, some 55m x 30m (hence the gaps in the middle)

A good turnout on a hot, very dry day with the temperature reaching an unseasonable 31 deg

Thanks to the 14 dealers who came along and supported the club, the sales or boerwors rolls, beers, cokes and coffee went well

Our visit to the Endler Hall in Stellenbosch gave us a clear and unambiguous message that we have quite a bit further to go to reproduce sound as easily as a string quartet did this evening on 19th May.  A small club contingent attended the concert in the superb Endler hall to listen to three Beethoven string quartets.  Following the concert we visited a local Pizza place and filled ourselves with their excellent offerings

The acoustics in the Endler Hall are really good.   David Juritz gave a short talk about feelings related to music and he was able to stand on the stage and his unamplified voice could be heard throughout the whole auditorium

We were fortunately sitting right in the middle, 4 rows from the stage and were not more than 5 metres from the musicians

Great evening of music and also great socially. I want my system to have that kind of "presence" and tonality. We could even hear the main violinist breathe (no other bodily functions and noises noted or observed for the record).

Amazing how much "sound" 4 instruments create in a hall that size. More pics to follow
