As long as there are no By Invitation Only nonsense.  I would have loved to bring my boy, but he needs his rest.  They are having their Interschools Athletics the next day.  He is one of the althetes, and will probably do the 100m, 200m dash, 90m hurdles, long jump and 4X100m relay.  So he will be a busy boy the next day.

Anyone can come, you are all welcome.  We will get the business side over as quickly as possible, and then decide on which CDs we will play first.  I have some ideas for future meetings which I will run past you on the night.  There is already an away meeting planned at a dealer, plus lots of other things.  Suggestions are always welcome

What about a never-going-to-use-this-crap-anyway exchange?  Like some nice speakers gathering dust alongside your Ferrari in the garage crap.

Yes, that is on the list.  I called it a "bring and buy" meeting.  I can even arrange to bring along a card machine for the Krells and suchlike (and for Andre's auntie's home theatre)

Hi-Fi Club proposed meetings thought of so far (some may overlap)

Away meeting at Sound and Vision, Century City, provisionally booked for April

Bring and Buy meeting.  Bring your stuff.  I can bring along a card machine,    but there is 5% discount on sales, so you’ll have to negotiate

Music from Linn Records.  LR supply a 500Gb hard disc with a sampler of    many    types of music, ranging from rock, jazz, blues and classical.  Music    is mostly recorded at 24 bit 96KHz or 24 bit 192KHz

Computers in audio.  The computer as a playback device.  Explanation and    demo of the various types of sound files and their attributes

Movie:  AES Damn Lies workshop – 47 mins

DACs compared and the right software to use with a USB connection

Downloading hi-res and other recordings from the net.  Doing it free of charge.  Many examples

YouTube – a selection of your favourite clips you have chosen from YouTube.  How to improve the audio and video available

How high can you hear? – an ears-on test using an App from an iPad through a full-range system

   iZotope Vinyl – 10 steps to lo-fi

It is obvious that CT cannot scratch up a decent T/T between them. They mention CD's but what can one do.Perhaps they cannot find any decent vinyl to play? :banned:

Apologies to Alty he does have decent T/T's.

If you could power the amp from the Prius battery......audiophile heaven awaits

Even Vaughan would be stammering for superlatives....

The entry test is easy:  A single tone from an oscillator will be played and you must guess the frequency.  Each wrong answer costs another R10,00 to get in.

If someone asks, I have a two armed, transportable 301 grease bearing ready to grind any CD playback into Koffiefontein's dust.

Not sure "equivalent" is the right word, but they are trying.  See http://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,30471.msg400529.html#msg400529
