A small group of 7 members met at Andrew's house to listen to Vinyi vs Digital

There was no outright winner

Overall, the LP renditions sounded bright and airy, perhaps lacking in dynamics, although this only became apparent when hearing a digital version.   There was a distinct bass emphasis on most of the digital copies and it was evident from the balance of the sound that some had been remastered.  Whether the engineer did a good job or not is up to the listener

Compared to a newer, digitally mastered recording (Allan Taylor - Colour to the Moon), the LPs were not as crisp and full.  Perhaps if we had a R100k turntable and cartridge assembly, this would not have been as evident

Overall, its a matter of taste

In the first image:   1 - Alan Hobkirk pre-amp, 2 - Rega Planar TT, SME arm, Ortophon cartridge, 3 - Lindemann Limetree bridge

Masks aplenty today, 10 dealers and 189 visitors came to the Cape Town Cricket Club on a warm autumn day in the Cape

We offered a vinyl cleaning service for R20,00 and there were plenty of takers.

In order that you can see how it is done, we recorded this narrated video clip and you can see it here:  https://youtu.be/iOsoUe39u3E

We also admired some BODY ART (see last pic)
