Thanks for the photographs, Chris!

For me the standout was no doubt the Tannoy Westminster Royal speakers.  Bloody great sounding, especially for R180k!  Much better sounding than those R5.5m piano speakers.

Would absolutely love to attend again!

Jozua_2019 and all the club guys, Thanks for hosting the great evening. Some really nice stuff that Hein had on display and nice to see some young joining in to.

The club's Scientific Officer, one Jason Manley starts his new career in Mauritius next week

Jason has a PhD in Electronic Engineering and worked for several years for the SKA Project, whose vast radio telescope array near Carnarvon in the northern Cape is slowly coming to fruition.  He has been a really generous and helpful member of the club, sharing his superb technical expertise, repairing and modifying some of the club's electronic equipment

We wish him everything of the best in his new home

Lovely man, I had the pleasure in listening to Chris system last winter and it is indeed the closest i have heard to a live recording. Great interview!

A surprisingly large turnout to our Vinyl Faire yesterday.  13 dealers and 171 visitors (we recorded everyone’s name, phone number and measured temperatures) on a form

I’d put it down to the well-known reduction in Covid infections, especially in the Western Cape which encourages people to get out and attend the VF.  In fact we ran out of beers, food and cokes

The next VF is scheduled for Sunday 25th April and will be at the Cape Town Cricket Club in Victoria Road, Plumstead.  Better off-street parking, bar (from 11h00), proper kitchen and a good selection of food at reasonable prices

Keep an eye on this space!

Our March meeting will hopefully one of the last in the series of ZOOM meetings as we plan to hold a social meeting during April

We do have some other interview lined up, one is with famous Cape Town Jazz Drummer Maurice Gawronsky, who has had a musical career going back 60 years

This March 10th ZOOM meeting is with Jacques Passier who is doing his bit to aid the resurgence of Vinyl, now that CDs have fallen by the wayside after a 38 year run (we had some of the first CDs at a club meeting in April 1983.  Most were disappointed at the sound)

ZOOM meeting ID is 920 155 8447 and when prompted, the passcode is 12345
You can join from 7:15pm

We are still open to receive subs.  Only 14 have paid so far and seeing this newsletter reaches 215 email addresses, its rather a small proportion
