Geen probleem dat ek Afrikaans praat nie

Seriously thou, shouldn´t there be some kind of warnings here?

Like: Hard hat area! Protectvive clothing required!

(No, I dont speak Afrikaans, but it is not hard to read, very much resembling Dutch)

Ingvar

Reminds me of a true story years ago when the then SA president De Klerk was on visit with their equals in Holland and Marika de Klerk (bless her departed soul) said to her counterpart she likes to go "stappen", thinking that Dutch and Afrikaans are similar. She did not realize that in Dutch "stappen" means pub crawling or going out for a drink, and not going for a walk.  ;)

Well, I would prefer the pub before just going for a walk.

To make sure Ingvar is comfortable with Zoom.  No good assuming it will be alright on the night.

Thank You for having me on this session and for accepting my ramblings.

This old mind, or whats left of it, very easily strays away in unpredictable directions so seldom very coherent but at least is was a good time spent with a glass, or two, of cape red.

Thanks again friends.

Thanks Ingvar.

Could not attend last night but caught up today. Thanks again to the Club and especially Anthony ,going from strength to strength,  turning interviews  into easy flowing fireside chats  amongst a wide variety of individuals  sharing a common passion.

Thanks to the Club lads for organizing, and thanks to Ingvar, very interesting and pertinent points in those ramblings indeed!

All went perfectly except yours truly had his mike un-muted! and an un-planned introduction occurred when I called my son to see "the Swedish Guy on Zoom".... cringe!, I duly apologized to Ingvar who said that he thought that the incident added to the session!

Got to laugh sometimes!

I didn't expect such unaccented English from Ingvar :) ...it's less than Cape Town...(I have been watching a lot of Fatima Sydow cooking videos.)  :D

What do you mean?  We don't speak the Queen's English down here?

We have some patented Capie expressions to be sure - your ma's se **** for one but overall its very expressive

If you want to hear some amazing English, go to Inverness in Scotland and speak to a native.  Its accent with a trace of English

:)  Interesting you should say that.  I was just now saying to my friend in Slovenia, the 'rr' /the "rolling R", that English/americans can't do but Scots can.  I'm not sure / I think Slavic languages have it...but she went off the chat before I got a reply...
Scottish, ja, when I was first in London, I stayed with people from Aberdeen [Ahberrdin], they did the 'rr' big time.  ...I had no problem with their accent, but I stayed in Burnley/Lancs for a couple weeks and that was difficult after i'd had a couple beers.  :)
