Great joy and happiness to meet in the flesh again

We had 11 members along to enjoy a "listen to the music" session at our favourite by far venue, Andrew Hoopers's living room in Rondebosch

Helping the proceedings along were some chili-flavored crisps, long donuts, very good blended red wine, tea and coffee

Oh yes, the equipment....

Star of the evening was without doubt the 200 wpc Meredian 557 power amplifier.  Dynamic, effortless sound, quiet, controlled.  These are some of the adjectives that can be applied

The source was a Windows computer running JRiver media player 26, a Fiio DAC, now and then a W4S USB "reclocker" and the club's Rogers speakers

This combo worked extremely well.   The speakers don't go much below 60Hz, if that, but the mid-range and upper register were superb

A further 11 new tracks have been added to the Music for Meetings selection that has been chosen as being better than average recordings

A few words from the specialist, Hein from Sound Structures in Germiston tonight via our ZOOM meeting

Hein explained his concept regarding the effect that unwanted and uncontrolled vibration has on audio electronic components and the necessity of drawing that vibration away from the component, mainly by solid and secure support

Certainly, his equipment furniture bears all the hallmarks of superb craftmanship, put together in a rigid structure that will enhance the reproduction from equipment placed in it

Our session was amplified by a testimonial from an enthusiastic customer who was more than well pleased with what he received

Please view the video on the club's YouTube channel and don't forget to subscribe when you have seen it (video available after 22h30)

Looking forward to this and hopefully seeing some of the amplifiers Karel is offering for sale.

We need to support the local industry.

Looking forward to the talk next week. Karel is not only knowledgeable on the topic but passionate about valves and valve amplification. Should be a great "audio" evening

Very insightful talk - loved the down to earth explanations for his wiring style, amp layout and the why he thinks silver wiring in transformers are overrated.

I am always impressed by the scale of the shop, the constant introduction of new product ranges and the personal service by E-piphany

Possibly one of the best run audio concerns in Cape Town.

Will you be there, @Jozua_2019?
If you don't understand the difference between "their", " there", and "they're", then your an idiot.

Need we say more to the pictures here.  15 audiophiles and learner-audiophiles assembled at e-Phipany in Bellville to have Hein describe the new products (and there were plenty, including a breathtakingly expensive set of Steinway open baffle speakers, with its own dedicated electronic crossover) and some "unusual" McIntosch combo valve/solid state amps

Thanks Hein, this was most definitely the visit of the year
