Do we have a social content - Most definitely yes.  The 5 times a year Vinyl Faires, usually held at the Cape Town Cricket Club on a Sunday (next one 4th Feb) are an excellent opportunity to meet club members, enjoy a beer, have a boerewors roll (we make them ourselves) and browse what is on offer

In addition, we hold monthly meetings in our listening room which has been our home for the past 14 months - The Board Room in the N G Kerk in Ophir Road in Plumstead.  This is a very quiet, carpeted, 12m x 14m room with curtains on one side in the rear of the church grounds.  There is ample parking all around the building and off the street.  The meetings are casual affairs, you can help yourself to a coffee or tea and a doughnut and come inside to see what is on

This month we are screening the Michael Fremer video, an intensely interesting report on the capabilities of modern sound equipment.  We have obtained copies of all 3 recording versions that feature in this talk and the differences will astound you

In March we will probably visit a turntable manufacturer whose product is the best we have even seen, and he will share his experience with us

Meeting topics are pencilled in for a good portion of the year.  However, we are always open to suggestions and invites from our dealers in and around Cape Town

We live up to our motto - "Listen with your ears".  Equipment, source and cable is just one part of the journey, music is at its heart

Had thought of that, but how to organise it?  We don't want people sitting patiently in silence while headphones are passed around.   Good ideas like this always welcome, practical ideas even more.  Have to give it some more thought

I hope it's OK for me to mention here that I am in the process of organising just such a "Head-Fi" evening for Cape enthusiasts.

It is still very much in the planning stage, but is tentatively scheduled for late February/early March.
It will take place at a City dealer's store, and we hope to have lots of exciting gear on hand.

The idea is simply to have some fun listening to some great gear, and to socialise with like-minded head-fiers.

I will post further details in the appropriate forums closer to the time!

Hi Chris - very happy to chat about this with you directly.
It would not be under the auspices of the club, but I'm sure some members would be interested to attend.

I absolutely do not want to "tread on the toes" of the club in any way shape or form.

Coventry looks impressive in that picture, in my experience it is a place Trump would describe non-Norwegian immigrants as coming from (but the people are great and the Craic at the pub I frequent when there is excellent)

A windy (but not wet since it hasn't rained properly for weeks) day for the 19th Hi-Fi Club Vinyl Faire.   We moved the date to the first Sunday since there is a monthly VF in Observatory

Dealers expressed satisfaction regarding the turnover.  We have had bigger crowds in the past

I think that is one of Alty/JQ's turntables so he should be able to confirm.

It is a SANYO direct drive turntable.  The resolution of the picture is insufficient to read the model number
