The nice thing about Gearslutz is that a lot of the guys there are pro's in some or the other sound related field and the discussions are more often than not fact and experience based.
It's only hifi people....

Rodney thank you very much for this!  :dop:

Just completed repositioned all my kit based on the info here and feel like I got a feel upgrade

Next time I feel the urge to 'upgrade' I'll just move my kit around, can't believe the difference just moving the speakers from one side of the room to the other makes

Not sure if this is the right place to put this but anyone wanting to optimize their speaker placement should get this:

For myself and others its been a huge source of insight and almost infallible resource.

Looks interesting - do you have any treatment that works effectively under 100hz, down to say, 30hz?

That Gearslutz link is a great resource. Gearslutz is definitely the "go to" pro recording and mixing forum.

If anybody wishes to learn more about acoustics and acoustic treatment there is a wonderful book by F. Alton Everest and Ken Pohlmann called Master Handbook of Acoustics.

Nice Foamrite videos to use for marketing. It's a shame that Gareth had to mention that covering all the walls of a room with absorption panels makes the room "sound proof" though. I've been interested in Foamrite products in the past but can't find any absorption coefficients on the website. Have you guys measured absorption coefficients of your panels in anechoic chambers?

Hi there,

Yes we do have graphs and tests are done, but the guys at Academy of Sound Engineering still working on it. It's taken a lot longer than we thought but will be out soon..

The Academy of Sound Engineering have done some tests. That's great. I studied and worked there in the past. I would love to see the results when you are ready to publish them. Please keep us up to date. Here or on a new thread. Did you guys use the anechoic chamber next to studio M5 for the tests?

Hi Mikron,

Yes the anechoic chamber was used - old SABC building.. There are several thousand readings taken from Pro Tools and typed into a spreadsheet so it's all taking longer than expected. As soon as it's wrapped up I'l post a link here :)
