After fixing the hinges and having a perfectly working perspex lid for a turntable, I tried to polish the top of the lid, and in the process caused more damage! After using a home-made buff in a drill on the lid, it seemed to overheat and I now have a lid with a number of circles and half-circles of tiny "cracks" inside the plastic (i.e. not on top, and out-polishable). These are not real cracks / nothing has split - it is more like tiny stress fractures that appear to be inside the plastic.

Any ideas on how to resurrect this lid? Can I spray it black? Can I stick something to it? What will create an acceptable look? Could I make it "frosty" and completely un-seethrough-able?

I'd hate to have to ditch this lid and start looking all over again...
