CD audio vs Lossless audio, Should it be the same?

Hi Guys,

Just a question, I am streaming lossless from my iMac to Apple Tv or Airport express to my DAC.

I played the same track with my CD transport to same DAC and the audio was different? I kind of preferred  the CD sound. Am I imagining?

I want to switch to lossless, but if I am gonna compromise audio quality then surely it cant be worth it?
