Hi, I have a Yamaha AV receiver and a Samsung smart TV connected by an HDMI cable only. I have set up a DLNA server on my PC and I have ripped some of my CDs to flac files. According to the Yamaha specs, it does not play the flac codec, and I have confirmed this with a usb flash drive. The TV does play flac files.
However, I can play the flac files through the amp using the DLNA client on the TV. I thought that the flac file would be streamed to the amp via the HDMI cable.
Is the data being transcoded, and if so, how does the TV know to do this ?
