I've been doing some reading over on the cult IB website and see there are mainly 2 types of setups namely a manifold or a line array.
For conventional subs the theory is that if you have 4 spaced around your room it will sound better due to (i think) cancelling of room modes.
So my question is : Can you combine the 2 setups (IB and conventional)? So the plan is to have an IB setup, but not using either Line or manifold style. Rather have 4 separate holes in your ceiling with a single downfiring driver in each. Below is a picture which should help me describe. The pic is of an underfloor setup, but just imagine it's in the ceiling and it's only 1 driver.
This one shows the driver removed and the little white rectangle is effectively the "punch-through" into the room through the ceiling board.
You would then have 4 "holes" spaced about your room similar to this:
Good idea/bad idea? Pros/Cons?
