Catherine bought a bottle in Parkview for about R100. Sold out now. It's a liqueur, so shouldn't be expensive

It's probably worth the special price, but to me it was overrated.  It tasted like an immature whisky that was over-oaked to provide some flavour.  Not my favourite.

That's good to know, thanks. In this price class (let's say up to R300), what would you suggest? I have enjoyed Tullamore DEW and Jameson, also JW BL, so apart from those.

Glen Grant Major's Reserve Single Malt, IMO, but I'm a single malt fan.  Your range there is very wide, spanning Irish to Scotch, and you like the lighter whiskies.  I think you'll like the Glen Grant Major's Reserve.

I's also give our local Bain's Cape Mountain Whiskey a shot in that range - a little different, but very good, and a bargain at the price.
