There are plenty of good examples out there, but if I think back the one scene that stands out to me most is the train accident in Super 8. The sound was so visceral I couldn't help myself, I actually physically dodged and ducked in my seat.

Agreed. Sad but true. However, what does it say about us  for stereo there seems to be concensus that its the music that matters and that you spend you tom on kit to get the best out of your music.

On the flip-side it looks like we buy/watch (on occasion) BD/DVD's that have crappy stories but if the effects are awesome we watch it over and over  :nutter: I know I'm guilty of that, Battleship being one example

Too true!  Have that dilemma now with Snow White and the Huntsman - Already know it's not a great movie but on account of Bullet_GPs recommendation I have to hear it!  :nutter:

So far the best that I am aware of is Black Hawk Down. Is there anything better or equal to it?

My BHD blu ray is pretty crap..

Ridley Scott's Gladiator was awesome

In the last couple of months i have purchased many local and import blu rays and if found the these to be very good indeed:

Inception
Taken
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Avengers
House of Flying Daggers
10,000 BC
