Guest Access to forums
« on: August 24, 2008, 10:31:46 PM »
I have seen many a times Guests having a look at registered users' profiles.  Some of the information (such as users equipment) could be too much information being made available to the public at large.

Depends on how much information you put up there  ;)
In the word : Scent, is it the S or the C that is silent?

Mervin, I agree, did not realise that but yes, members should either be aware and take care or alternatively there should be limited viewing friom guests.

Agreed. In fact, there should not be any access by Guests to that sort of private information. Kay?

I ahve taken stock over the last few weeks and I see 'Guest' accessing user profile very too often.  A bit a social engineering and we can become targets.

Where do you see Guest accessing the user profile?
Resistance is not futile; it is voltage divided by current (R=V/I)

I only see a list of current browsers, not their activities.

Perhaps Kay should give us a choice of making our user profiles public or only accessible to members. This does not, however, stop plotters/conspirators from registering on the forum....

Simple fact is, if you're browsing the internet you're open to invasion  ;)
