Nice! Just be careful if poking in under the chassis, many of those old radios use cotton insulation on the wires, which goes all brittle & hard over the years.

Fantastic! I had this exact model many years ago when I was still at school. Kept it under the bed and listened to 702 when it was still "a rainbow of sound"

JA!!

Bruder ....

C-core transformers to boot, both of them. Wonder what vintage this must be?

Those KT66 would be push-pull, not parallel. Serious output for a gram for those days. (My Father's first radio used a pair of 6V6's, and that bellowed the roof off - a 'Globe' of 1938 vintage.)

Oops, sorry.

This was a pub/saloon radio/record-player/announcement system - memory coming back. That's why the large (50?) watts, going into a 400 ohm loudspeaker distribution system. There were several models - I also recall seeing models from Tannoy, RCA and others. Serviced a few of them while at varsity.

That would make sense now...

The unit does have an internal speaker. It also has a separate adjustment for "monitor".

Eish! No chance this one is getting plugged in! I know it has been sitting in my Dads garage for more than 30 years (unused)....

Dear alternativeroute,

Grampian, a British manufacturer, made some very good hifi and PA valve amplifiers.  I have two Grampians, of which one is a PA mono system that use KT88's.

It is worth restoring. The mains socket is the 3 pin Bulgin, the same as used on the Leak TL12.1's.

Kind Regards

Charles

Hi Charles, thanks for the responce  :) You don't have one like this one? A restore would be cool BUT. No FM and no stereo  :o
With a partner though it could be quite viable... Cheers Altroute

Dear alternativeroute,

Mine are amplifiers, not an integrated radio system.

Kind Regards
