Last Friday I was looking for somebody to fix my Jamo Classic 8's - the plastic bits on the posts had become brittle with age and were all packing up. I also had a suspected blown tweeter on one of them. After phoning the local agents with no joy, I eventually called the distributors in Jo'burg. They said they had a guy and passed me on to Theo van den Hoven from Sound Inspiration in Hout Bay. He came to me in the city centre the same day, picked them up and I had a reasonable quote before lunch today. He seems very knowledgeable, I am not sure what makes he can service, but so far he's been spot on. I will provide feedback once the job's done.

I have now had several dealings with Theo. He is very good, reasonably priced and provides snappy service and good advice. He really knows Jamo speakers, I don't know which other brands he works on, but I presume most of them. He is also a good person to have a glass of wine and a listen to some music with. He normally travels with his lovely wife Liezel after hours.

Cape Town:

Westech Audio

24 Losack Ave Epping
7460 Cape Town, Western Cape
Phone:   021 534 8434

We do expert rebuilds to all pro loudspeakers. We will fit the original spec re-cone kit-failing that we custom manufacture voice coils to original spec.these are high temp/power voice coils constructed using alu or kapton formers. In addition to using high temp copper wire, we have also specially sourced CCA wire for use in special drivers(nexxo etc).

Fanatical neatness regarding workmanship are of primary concern when affecting a repair to any driver.

The thiele-small parameters are closely looked to ensure the drivers remain in spec.

We do speedy, professional repairs/service to all your sound and lighting equipment.

We design and install new sound/lighting systems to suit your needs and budget.

In addition we can help with your sound hire requirements.

Indeed. Many years ago he built 2 12" drivers for me, with 4ohm voice coils for car use. I still have them to do this day, after abusing them for many years on the SPL circuit. Still as good as the day he built them.

As suggested:
This guy is all you need for most repair situations, dedicated, not too expensive and he'll stick at it until fixed to satisfaction.
A nicer and more humble guy you'll not find easily.

I have just had my compressor motor repaired by "Evo". The job entailed a complete rewinding and took two weeks to complete which I think is reasonable, as was the cost which I think was even more reasonable.

He is located in Franklin Road Claremont, along Rosmead Ave, cross over Lansdowne Road, go past Coimbra bakery and turn left (facing Rondebosch) into Queen Victoria and Franklin Road is off Queen Victoria Street.

His telephone no is 082 662 4604 and email address - evorewinders@gmail.com.

I have asked him about small motor repairs (as in turntables) and transformer repairs for amplifiers and he confirmed he can do these as well.

There's also a website for which I will supply details asap.

If you need an old remote repaired. I found this guy in Cape Town, Muizenberg that repaired an old remote of mine. He uses Silver Plata Conductive Paint on the pads and he replaces the Infra Red Led’s, Filters+Transistors if needed. He also repairs amplifiers etc.
