I had recently an interesting experience, the more so because it was completely unexpected. I was trying out a new pair of Sennheiser HD650s (20% off at Custom Cable in England) and started listening to one of the B&W downloads, Accidental Powercut Session 1 and was knocked out by the "out-of-head" sound-stage. Had a look at the blurb and these recordings were made binaurally, specifically for listening with headphones. No doubt old-hat to experienced head-phone users but a revelation to me. I came across a stereo-to-binaural DSP for foobar at sourceforge and will give it an extended try-out at the office where I use headphones exclusively - am not over-hopeful because fooling around with the signal seems unlikely to cover the difference between the recording techniques. Anyway I learnt something new so a good day !
