The Hifiman HE-500 is an orthodynamic headphone from Chinese manufacturer Hifiman, made famous by in ear monitors such as the RE-0 and RE-252 and planar magnetic headphones such as the $1299 HE-6. The HE-500 slots in below the HE-6 at $699 and differentiates itself by being much easier to drive than the HE-6. The HE-500 still requires a dedicated headphone amplifier to bring out their best. Here are a few images so far. I will expand on my thoughts on their sound in later posts and compare it to other headphones that I have listened to.

As you can see from the photos they are quite bulky, very solidly constructed and they also weigh quite a bit tipping the scales at 505 grams.
