This thread brings back memories :). Prior to the Pentium II, AMD; Intel; IBM and Cyrix processors used to fit on the same motherboard with jumper settings. The Pent II forced me to decide between AMD and Intel because I believed in support all my life; and it simply was not practical for me (2 jobs) keeping both technologies in stock (I used to buy at least 10 motherboards at their end-of-life stages). To me it's about dealer / supply network support and there Intel wins hands down.
