Sorry Ludo, I didnt mean you were deaf. Just a wisecrack on my part. Is a bit strange saying things like that on a hifi forum. My sincere apologies. To answer your questions: the drivers are purposed to be fullrange which accounts for the nice response curve. One of the reasons I bought these drivers is the extremely low moving mass. Just over 2 grams. Also like the paper cone. The sensitivity is low compared to the bass driver but if you do some math and get the baffle width correct it means you can get away without any baffle step compensation in the crossover. I am running the mids and bass on exactly the same amount of gain. Alternatively some gain on it or eq on the other drivers work well and is easily done when running active. I chose the open mid design just to try it out. it gives you quite a different sound. more spacious if there is such a thing. In my room I definitely need to stuff the pipe a bit otherwise the reflection from the rear wall is a bit too wild. Small room means they are a bit too close to the wall. Also damps some of the resonance issues in the pipe. You are welcome to come over for a listen sometime. I am in the north of JHB.
