Somewhere somehow I forgot the meaning of “audiophile”. nowadays it seems to encompass room acoustics and equipment synergising to create the perfect sound. Music is secondary. Enjoying music is out the window. i started out trying to improve the sound of my humble Sony system from Makro and ended up in a maze . Yet a simple inexpensive system in a typical home environment sounds musical. I don’t look at the kit, not analysing the sound. Just enjoying the music. No disappointment and no irritation. So different from listening to audiophile equipment; equipment painstakingly put together at great cost , positioned in a treated room . leaving me with wanting just that bit more. But with time I have learned not to expect too much ; nothing is perfect . If the kit sounds musical I sit back and enjoy. It’s enough to remove irritating aspects of the sound and stop. After all there’s are countless presentations of the same piece and all can be enjoyable.
